At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona on March 1 (local time), Japan OTIC Representative Director Katsuya Watanabe exchanged views with O-RAN ALLIANCE Chairman Alex Jinsung Choi and Technical Steering Committee (TSC) Co-Chair Chih-Lin I.

At the meeting, Representative Director Watanabe expressed his gratitude for the support from O-RAN ALLIANCE, such as receiving a video message for the opening of Japan OTIC. The Representative Director also expressed that Japan OTIC will actively contribute to the activities of O-RAN ALLIANCE in future, plans to start specific Certification/Badging services as early as possible in the 2023 fiscal year, and plans to hold PlugFest in the fall of this year as well following last year.

In addition, Chairman Choi said that the O-RAN ALLIANCE meeting is planned in June 2023 in Osaka, Japan. Representative Director Watanabe said that at the timing of the chairman’s visit to Japan in the future, he would like to exchange views on promoting O-RAN with the parties concerned in Japan.
